FAQs.
Is this secure and HIPAA Compliant?
Absolutely. SimpleVisit only utilizes video services that meet the “communications conduit” requirement in the HIPAA rules. We also sign a business associate agreement with the covered practice to allow SimpleVisit to handle patient information for the purposes of the telemedicine exchange. We do not record or store ePHI that could be compromised. Click here for more information (FaceTime Whitepaper)
Is this service compatible with WhatsApp?
Technically SimpleVisit can bridge any desktop or browser-based video application. The limitations for use in telemedicine are whether or not the video exchange is encrypted to meet HIPAA and HITECH standards. Click here to view the list of compatible video platforms.
What if I do not have a video account?
The SimpleVisit coordinator team will contact you prior to the appointment to confirm your contact preference or send a link to an online web session. The coordinator team is trained to assist with technical troubleshooting to ensure a smooth experience.
What conditions can my provider treat via telemedicine?
Most minor medical conditions, including: Allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cold & flu, diarrhea, infections, insect bites, pink eye, rashes, skin inflammations, sore throats, sprains & strains, urinary tract infections, lab reviews, prescription refills and much more.
How can my provider treat me without a physical exam?
Your doctor actually doesn’t need to do a physical exam to diagnose and treat many conditions. That’s because knowing your medical history is considered “90% of the evaluation” when combined with the doctor/patient interaction. How you’re feeling can be just as important to your doctor as the results of a physical exam.
Can my provider prescribe medication?
Yes. If your provider decides you need treatment, he or she will send your prescription electronically to your pharmacy so it’s ready to pick-up when you arrive.
