The FDA Has Approved The First Digital Pill:

The Food and Drug Administration has approved the first digital pill for the U.S. called Abilify MyCite. Abilify MyCite is a pill fitted with a tiny ingestible sensor that connects with a patch worn on the patient’s left rib cage. After the sensor comes in contact with stomach acid, it is activated and then communicates with the patch. The patch then receives medication data like the time the pill was taken and the dosage to a smartphone app that the patient can voluntarily upload to a database for their doctor, and up to other four people to see. The pill was created to treat those with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. While the pill is addressing the problem of patients not taking their medication, if used improperly it can lead to a lot more mistrust.

Foley Survey Shows Surging Telemedicine Services Across The Healthcare Spectrum, Into Foreign Markets:

According to Foley’s 2017 Telemedicine and Digital Health Survey, there is a surge in demand for telemedicine-based offerings among providers and patients. Back in 2014, the survey showed that 87% of respondents did not expect their patients to use telemedicine service. However, this year’s survey showed exponential growth with three-quarters of respondents currently offering or planning to offer telemedicine services.
