Transforming Access to Care — Part 2

SimpleVisit’s Goal to Transform Healthcare: Access to care should be as simple as answering a call.

Here at SimpleVisit, we are on a mission to significantly improve the implementation of telemedicine. The use of virtual care is steadily growing into a common practice among healthcare providers in the U.S. Even with these advancements in the industry, however, widespread adoption seems to be hindered by various technical barriers. We believe that the real demand for virtual care is not truly addressed with the current spectrum of solutions.

Telemedicine is a viable care delivery option, in part, because consumers (a.k.a. patients) in this digitally-connected age wish to see their doctor on their terms.

We’re not quite there yet…

Innovations in healthcare technology have attempted to answer this demand with web or mobile platforms that come with unfortunate limitations. Either the solution offers an unknown but available doctor and/or requires arduous steps via phone or web browser to access the session. These generalities are just some of the reasons we believe virtual care has yet to experience higher adoption rates, especially among patients who need it the most — elderly, chronic care, and behavioral health patients.

Here’s our take…

It seems that connected devices like smart phones, VR, and wearables are at the center of current health technology innovations. Similarly, at SimpleVisit, we believe that advancements in access to care will embrace what people already have in their hands. Visiting with one’s physician remotely does not have to require new equipment, new software to download, or a new system to learn.

SimpleVisit demonstrates a way to bypass those aforementioned barriers altogether by reducing complexity and minimizing the barriers between doctors and their patients. With our background in telecommunications technology, we invented a solution that bridges any video platform with any other video platform in a secure shared session. Furthermore, we utilize a live operator who bridges each party with a direct call to their preferred platform. This interoperability allows doctors and patients alike to use a video client or application that they are already familiar with in order to conduct their visits over video. SimpleVisit makes access to care as simple as answering a call.

Why this matters…

With SimpleVisit, a high-need population with too few doctors can now be easily seen by answering a call on a smartphone. Rural communities that require physicians to travel great distances are now closer than ever with an internet-connected device. Emergency rooms all across the globe can be preserved for critical cases with non-emergency triage conducted through a SimpleVisit session. We imagine a world where access to care is delivered with a call directly to you. No web browser, no mobile download, no username and password. Simply answer the call.

This method of virtual care is revolutionary in an industry crowded with fragmented solutions to a very real demand. As part of the Startup Health community, we are partnering with other healthcare innovators to significantly improve access to care around the world within our generation.

We believe that this is the future of telemedicine.
