Apple’s Group FaceTime Feature Expands Virtual Care Options

Group FaceTime is here! Apple’s latest release of iOS 12 includes many new features, including multiple-party calling over FaceTime. Group FaceTime supports up to 32 people at once during a call and configures everyone’s image into a tile that gets larger when a person is talking in order to keep the conversation organized. The mechanics of the FaceTime app remain the same: launch the app, type in multiple contacts that you want to FaceTime, and start a call! FaceTime also has end-to-end encryption for both one-on-one and group calls. Group FaceTime is also supported on Mac through macOS Mojave, Apple’s latest Mac software update which is planned to be released later this fall. Both iOS 12 and macOS Mojave are free updates that are accessible from supported devices.

SimpleVisit’s telemedicine reception service connects to common video platforms accessible from just about any smart device. Multi-party calling over FaceTime opens up the possibility for patients to include caregivers, family members, translators or specialists to join in their telemedicine session over their iPhone, iPad or Mac. SimpleVisit uniquely has the ability to bridge FaceTime with any other video platform (Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc).  With SimpleVisit, Group FaceTime can be enabled for a positive telehealth experience, all while keeping your information secure in a way that’s HIPAA-compliant.
